The Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges region is home to some of Victoria's most impressive tall forests. Once logged to make masts for ships, the area is now a haven for lyrebirds, and a great place to walk, cycle, picnic or sit and relax. Follow the many walks and trails through stands of towering 100 metre high mountain ash, undulating seas of tree ferns, across clear gushing streams and past thundering waterfalls. The Cathedral Range is a spectacular 7 kilometre ridge of sharply upturned sedimentary rock. A variety of walking tracks offer the opportunity to climb the peaks and enjoy views of the forests and farmland in the valley below.
